In the era of Industry 4.0 and Internet of Things (IoT), industrial applications are increasingly relying on highly efficient, reliable and secure wireless communications. This further calls for the fulfillment of technical requirements such as bounded latency, mission-critical reliability, high energy efficiency, real-time adaptively and scalability, or strict security. The need for large-scale wireless deployments is especially driven by the industry’s interests in enabling flexible, competitive, cost-effective, and thus smart production systems. Furthermore, the impact of wireless communications also extends to many other application areas. In cyber-physical systems, for example, network- related factors, such as jitter, packet loss and resource contention, can affect the stability and dynamics of physical subsystems. For this reason, there is a need to disseminate, streamline and investigate research findings coming from several different application domains.

The RTWC workshop will be in-conjunction with the 18th International Conference on Ubiquitous Computing and Communications (IEEE IUCC-2019). The aim of this workshop is to provide a forum for researchers, practitioners and developers to review current trends in this area and to present and discuss new ideas and new research directions.

The topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Industrial wireless networks

  • Industrial applications of Internet of Things (IoT)

  • Architectures, protocols and algorithms for wireless communications

  • Performance evaluation, simulation and modeling of wireless networks

  • Real-time and reliable communication and applications

  • Mobile edge computing or fog computing

  • Industrial artificial intelligence

  • Security and privacy in industrial wireless networks

Paper submission:

Authors are invited to submit manuscripts reporting original unpublished research and recent developments in the topics related to the workshop. The length of the papers is up to 6 pages (or 8 pages with over length charge, using IEEE Computer Society Proceedings Manuscripts style: two columns, single-spaced), including figures and references, using 10 fonts, and number each page. Papers should be submitted electronically in PDF format (or postscript) by sending it as an email attachment to Dr. Qi WANG (wangqi08@ict.ac.cn). All papers will be peer reviewed and the comments will be provided to the authors. The accepted papers will be published together with those of other IUCC 2019 workshops by the IEEE Computer Society Press (indexed by EI).

Paper Acceptance: Each accepted paper must be presented at the conference by one of the authors. The final manuscript must be accompanied by a registration form and a registration fee payment proof.
